ad-Daa' wa ad-Dawaa' الداء والدواء

This is a book on preaching and guidance, as well as beliefs and Shari’ah Law. Ibn al-Qayyim deals with the subject of the purification of the soul and its evaluation, according to the Islamic perspective, where the reader travels between its chapters, passing through advice and reprimand. The book deals with the ills of the evil inciting self, showing its flaws and shortcomings, and showing the power of lust, at the same time warning against the tricks and schemes of Satan in leading the soul into sins and misdeeds, and relying on the life of the world and its adornment. Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah wrote this book in response to a man who asked him the following question:

“What do the scholars say in regards to a man that is tried by tribulation, and learned that if it continued it would corrupt him both in this world and the hereafter? He had worked hard to rid himself of these tribulations but unfortunately, he failed, what can he do to get rid of it? Published in one huge volume on yellow paper. Contains 678 pages.
